People often ask whether being both a financial advisor and a divorce solutionist somehow damages my credibility. One friend even admitted, “I don’t want to tell people you work in divorce—divorce is depressing.” Here’s my truth: absolutely not.
Life is hard, and society still treats certain chapters—illness, caregiving, divorce—as liabilities. I see them as potential assets. My work lets me tap into people’s dreams and fears and guide them through one of the toughest phases they may ever face.
How I found my mission
When someone asks how I entered the divorce arena, I say my eyes opened after my own divorce—a personal experience I jokingly call my Harvard School of Divorce. That challenge showed me the silent suffering people endure, explained behaviors I hadn’t understood before, and made me far more humble. Once I saw that pain up close, I felt compelled to bring functionality through the tools I know best:
financial literacy, rational asset division, and cost-effective collaboration with attorneys.
Information vs. wisdom
During my own divorce 11 years ago, quality guidance was scarce—even though I searched everywhere. Today the pendulum has swung the other way: too much data, not enough wisdom. Noise, confusion, overwhelm. Neither extreme is healthy, but we’re evolving.
One truth almost everyone agrees on: courts and lawyers aren’t miracle workers. The legal system is a Band-Aid, not a cure; it was never designed to “fix” our personal choices. Real change starts with us—with the decisions we make and the professionals we bring onto our team.
Having solid information in your back pocket gives you the power to overcome anxiety with facts. As I always say:
“THE BEST DECISION IS A WELL-INFORMED DECISION.”
A well-informed choice has a far better chance of success than a decision made in the dark.
Two ways to get that wisdom—starting now:
